Easy At Home Face Mask Recipes
I think I can speak for us all when I say that right now is the ultimate time for self care. Whether you're stuck indoors or are an essential employee braving the public - the stresses of life are at an all time high for us.
While we can't control most of what's happening around us, what we can control is how we treat ourselves. Use this time to create healthy rituals for yourself, and practice small joys that can help you maintain some normalcy. For me, a nice long soak in the bath with a relaxing face mask is my favorite way to unwind! Here are some of my favorite face mask recipes that you can make at home - and the best part is most of these ingredients are already stocked in your kitchen. Enjoy!
Soothing Banana and Honey Mask
This three ingredient face mask is one of my favorites for when my skin feels dry, lifeless and dull. Rich in potassium and vitamin A, bananas are amazing for adding hydration and moisture to the skin, and honey (which is a natural antibacterial) helps clear up acne and leaves the skin with an amazing glow.
Ingredients: 1/2 of one ripe banana
1 Tablespoon of Honey
1/4 Cup of Oatmeal
Using a food processor: Add rolled oats to a food processor like a Ninja and blitz until they become nice and fine. Add in banana and honey and blend until well mixed. If the consistency feels to thick, add in 1 tablespoon of water and re blend until it reaches a spreadable consistency.

If you don't have a food processor: Add the oats to a Ziplok bag and roll with a rolling pin. In a small bowl mash up the banana and honey, then add in oats. If the mixture is too thick, add 1 tablespoon of water and mix until it reaches a spreadable consistency. Apply the mask to a freshly washed face and let sit for 10 minutes. Rinse with warm water, and follow up with your favorite moisturizer.
Skin Firming Green Tea and Egg White Face Mask
Egg whites and green tea are the ultimate ingredients for a youthful complexion! Egg whites are great for tightening pores and smoothing your complexion, and green tea is a fantastic antioxidant. With just two ingredients, this is by far the easiest of the masks to make!
Ingredients: 1 Egg White
1 Bag of Green Tea, steeped for 15 seconds
Start by steeping your bag of green tea for 15 seconds and set the bag to the side to cool. Once cooled, cut open the tea bag and pour the tea leaves to a small bowl. Add in one egg white and gently whisk ingredients together for 10 seconds. Apply the mixture to your freshly washed face and let sit for 10 minutes. Wash your face and follow up with your favorite moisturizer.
Exfoliating Cucumber, Avocado and Brown Sugar Face Mask
Whenever my skin is acting up, I love to throw on an easy exfoliating mask to clear up my pores and remove all the
dead skin and impurities of the world. Cucumbers and Avocado are the best for calming the skin, reducing redness (and it feels amazing on the skin!) Brown sugar gently exfoliates the skin without being too abrasive.
Ingredients: 1/8 Of an Avocado
1/3 Of a Cucumber
1 Tablespoon of Honey
1 Tablespoon of Brown Sugar
Directions Using a food processor: Blend together cucumber, avocado and honey. Once blended, fold in brown sugar. If the consistency is too thick, add in one tablespoon of water until a spreadable consistency is reached. Apply immediately over freshly washed skin and gently massage for one minute and thirty seconds, focusing on the areas where your skin is most congested. Rinse and follow up with your favorite moisturizer.
